Preparation of PVA/Chitosan/TiO2 Nanofibers using Electrospinning Method

Nanofiber PVA/Chitosan/TiO2 have been prepared by electrospinning method. Electrospinning was performed at a voltage 15 kV, with a tip-collector distance of 14 cm. A novel nanofibers mat was fabricated in various contents of PVA, Chitosan, and TiO2. The structure of PVA/Chitosan/TiO2 was examined by FTIR, XRD, and SEM-EDAX. The results showed that PVA/Chitosan/TiO2 nanofiber was successfully formed. SEM observation showed that the fiber had several hundred nanometers with a smooth surface and distributed randomly. It was also observed that nanofibers containing chitosan show smaller diameter than that of without chitosan. The beads on the nanofibers are decreased by adding TiO2 nanoparticles into the electrospun solution.
