摘要
Rain attenuation prediction models for link analysis are essential for satellite communications. The diurnal variations of the rain attenuation statistics are valuable for the effective system designs. In this work, a simple prediction model for diurnal rain attenuation statistics with its conversion scale is proposed. The method of calculating an approximated optimal constant conversion scale was developed using the acquired rain attenuation statistics for an average year. When such statistics is not available, a reliable rain attenuation model can replace the acquired statistics. Using the 2-year statistics at Nonthaburi, Thailand, the performance of this simple model was analyzed and found to be generally better than the existing model.
