摘要
The hydrolytic and oxidative degradation of paper was analyzed. The degradation of cellulose oxidized by aqueous solutions of metaperiodate at different concentrations was studied. It was found that the presence of functional groups formed by oxidation increases the susceptibility of the β-glucosidic bond to hydrolysis reactions catalyzed by a high concentration of hydrogen ions. Analyzation revealed that there is a symbiotic action between acidity and oxidation on the depolymerization of cellulose.
