Stygobitic harpacticoid copepods of France.: 7.: Description of two new copepods of the genus Parastenocaris kessler, 1913

During a systematic inspection of the harpacticoid fauna of groundwaters in France, several species belonging to the Parastenocarididae Chappuis, 1940 were collected. Two that are new for science, are here described: Parastenocaris boulouensis sp. n. and P. douellensis sp. n. Parastenocaris boulouensis sp. n. differs from the other species of the genus Parastenocaris Chappuis, 1940 by the total absence of endopods on P2-P4. In this respect, the new species closely resembles Parastenocaris vandeli Rouch, 1988 from Ariege. P. douellensis sp. n. belongs to the fontinalis group of the genus Parastenocaris. Parastenocaris douellensis sp. n. is morphologically similar to P. fontinalis Schnitter & Chappuis, 1915, P. similis Torok, 1935, P. aedes Hertzog, 1938, P. meridionalis (Rouch, 1990), and P. aquaeductus Chappuis, 1925. The new species differs from these species by the structure and chaetotaxy of P2-P5, and the morphology of the caudal rami.
