摘要
The powder-in-tube process has been used with considerable success to produce Bi-2223 superconducting tapes. This is due to several favorable attributes of pure Ag, the tube material. However, many device designs would benefit from a sheath material which has a higher electrical resistivity than Ag. This paper reports the results of investigations of alternative sheath alloys for processing Bi-2223. Alloys investigated include Ag Mn, Ag-Pd and Ag-Pt. The electrical resistivity, hardness, oxidation response, chemical compatibility and superconducting transition temperature are determined for selected compositions of sheath alloys.
