摘要：

In recent years, ultrasonography has beome an important adjunct to thoracic radiography in the diagnostic work-up of noncardiac thoracic disease in both humans and animals. This article discusses the application and limitations of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of thoracic wall, pleural, mediastinal, and pulmonary masses, pleural effusion, pneumothorax, pulmonary consolidation and collapse, and diaphragmatic hernia in the dog and cat.
