In 2017 the Spain CO2 emissions reached the 338.8 Million Tons (MTm), 17,8% higher than the 1990 year of reference. Spain has set a 40% reduction commitment to reach in 2030. This means that from 2030 and subsequent years we must reduce our emissions by 110 MTm/year. There are two ways to achieve the commitment: reduce CO2 emissions and sequester the CO2 emitted in geological traps. The first is well known, the second is unknown and therefore we devote greater attention. The exploration of the Spain area has been overdrawn by the low number of exploratory wells per km(2) and by seismic lines having been made with technology of 30-40 years ago. It has led to: 1) That we import the 99.8% of the gas we consume, so changing thermal coal to thermal gas (which would reduce emissions by 60%) would increase our facture for imports of natural gas; 2) Our knowledge of geological sites where injected the CO2 be overdrawn. In 2009 the ALGECO2 program dealt studying the possibilities of these geological traps and concluded that 103 were possible but in need a major definition and only 13 were already reasonable. As not all possible traps are located where CO2 emissions are more bulky, can be expressed that combating emissions must be solidarity, which we believe is missing in many institutions that do not facilitate the acquisition of new data (seismic lines and wells) that would allow finalize the evaluation and selection of these traps where kidnap the unavoidable CO2 produced. The selection of possibilities for ALGECO2, its conclusions, uncertainties and problems, do this work that we completed with the inclusion of the best possibilities of our territorial waters and some other than by its strategic location should be taken into consideration. Finally is necessary to reduce the current $ 45/Tm of capture because they are much higher than the $25 of emission rights and many of private emissaries will prefer their pay and whit this option it would be difficult to reduce the CO2 emissions.
