摘要
Terrain is one of the most common scene in nature. Any visual simulation is inseparable from terrain modeling. At present there are many 3D terrain generation methods. Among them, 3D terrain generation based on DEM has high precision, but the DEM data is expensive. Other ways to generate the terrain model with actual geographical features exist defects. This paper introduced the Linearization algorithm of Shape from Shading to solve the terrain height. Based on the low cost digital hill-shading map, the 3D terrain with actual geographical features was generated. The experiments showed that the method worked well and the result can satisfy the verisimilitude on vision. This paper also analyzed the experimental data in detail, and pointed out the research direction in the future.
