摘要：

In the period 1953-1991, Beet Research (and Breeding) Institute was located in Semcice; that allowed the concentration of professional beet-growing activities covering breeding and research as well as consulting for growers. The Institute was privatized in 1991 and in its place a number of new companies emerged; these companies continue working for the beet growing industry. Branches of breeding companies Syngenta and KSW supply Czech sugar beet growers with more than 45 % of seed. Beet Institute ensures technological research, trials and consulting. Czech Sugar Growers Association organizes political activities of beet growers. One significant agribusiness is based in Semcice - Zemedelska vyroba, Ing. Josef Hermansky. Semcice thus remain the centre of Czech beet indusny even in modern times.
