A new liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the chiral separation of the enantiomers of threo-losigamone. The enantiomers were separated by a Chiralpak IB (250 x 4.6 mm, mm, 5 mu m) at 30 degrees C and detected at 230 nm; the mobile phase used was n-hexane-ethanol (90/10, V/V) with a flow rate of 0.8 mL . min(-1). The resolution of threo-losigamone enantiomers was 1.79. By comparing the chromatographs of losigamone enantiomers and losigamone spiked with threo-losigamone, it was determined that the first effluent was threo-losigamone.
