A Six Sigma strategic initiative must be founded in corporate strategy and mixed with healthy doses of concepts from marketing, quality, finance, accounting, and human resources. If Six Sigma is viewed as primarily a "quality" initiative, it will probably fail miserably. If Six Sigma is viewed as a strategic initiative, it will require years of hard work to be successful. The Six Sigma initiative will need to be adapted and modified to fit the organization's culture. Six Sigma definitely is not a quick fix tactic. But the rewards from a Six Sigma strategic initiative can be tremendous.
