The aim of this paper was to increase deficient skills in children with behavioral problems, by providing social skills training. All children were of low socioeconomic level from some of the poorest districts in Mendoza City, Argentina. The sample was composed of 79, 7 to 12 years old boys, 39 with behavioral disorders (BD) and 40 with no behavioral disorders (NBD). Four subgroups included: Group A (20 children-ED) and Group B (22 children- NBD), both trained in social skills. In contrast, neither Group C (19 children- ED) nor Group D (18 children- NBD) were trained. Results showed that aggressive behaviors decreased in Group A. Groups without training showed no behavioral changes. These findings were also confirmed by the teachers' assessments. Based on these results, social skills training seems to be an efficient therapeutic approach to the attenuation of behavioral disorders in children.
