摘要
Due to its high separatory potential, hydrophobic interaction chromatography is an effective one-step purification procedure for bacterial lipid macroamphiphiles such as lipoteichoic acids, lipoglycans and lipopolysaccharides. Concomitant fractionation of molecular species that differ in the number of fatty acid residues, fatty acid composition and the length and substitution of the hydrophilic chain, provides a detailed picture of the intrinsic heterogeneity of these macroamphiphiles.
