摘要
Digestibility trials on mature goats were carried out in order to study the nutritive value (digestibility and intake) of fresh and ensiled carnation by-product. The ensiling process slightly decreased the CP level and increased the fibrous fractions. There were no differences (P > 0.05) in DMD, OMD or ME content between fresh and ensiled carnation by-product. The DM intake of fresh carnation (60.1 g kg(-1) LW(0.75) day(-1)) was significantly (P < 0.01) lower than that of ensiled carnation (72.9 g kg(-1) LW(0.75) day(-1)). The enzymatic solubilities of the fresh (66.3%) and ensiled (69.1%) by-product were higher than the in vivo Ohio values. The results confirm that this by-product can be used fresh or as silage in times of product excess for herbivore feeding.
