The theory of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is one of the main tools of environmental management in the 1990s. It is a kind of systematic method about the product or the service system, which measures the impact on the environment, the input and output of the material and the energy during the whole life cycle. Building is a sort of product of large volume, fixed location and high energy consumption, thus it has tremendous impacts on the surrounding environment. By applying LCA theory, this paper attempts to analyze the whole development process of the building product (which includes planning, designing, constructing, operating, maintaining, demolishing and recycling), and evaluate the key factors of affecting the environment in the every lifecycle phase of developing building product. The purpose is to reduce the environment pollution questions brought by building product. Moreover, the author gives some beneficial suggestions to implement this method, and hopes that the research can make the helpful exploration for building products developing in a green way in China.
