A sorption-photometric method for determination of silicon using polyurethane foam

摘要
A sorption-photometric method for determination of silicon using polyurethane foam is described. Silicon is sorbed on polyurethane foam from weakly acidic solutions (pH similar to 2) as an oxidized or reduced form of molybdosilicic acid (MSA) and analyzed in the sorbent phase by diffuse-reflection spectroscopy. The detection limit for silicon in the oxidized and reduced forms of MSA is 0.01 and 0.003 mug/ml, respectively. The method is used to determine silicon in tap water.
