摘要
Visual discomfort is predicted from a luminance map by a model based on the receptive field mechanism in the human eye. A centre-surround receptive field is described by a difference of 2-dimensional Gaussians. A Paired Comparison (PC) experiment is conducted on 8 commercially available office luminaires. The correlation between the PC data and the receptive field model is optimized for 3 factors: the centre Gaussian width, the surround Gaussian width and the centre-to-surround weighing factor resulting in a centre and surround visual angle of 0.53 and 2.19 arc minutes respectively. Selecting a weighing factor of 0.87 results in a coefficient of determination of 0.77. Where the standard UGR method fails with a coefficient of determination of 0.45, the receptive field model is promising to replace current glare metrics, specifically when non-uniform luminaires are to be evaluated.
