摘要
In a previous paper [1], the authors performed analysis and simulation of the minimum buffer size requirements for Available Bit Rate (ABR) and Variable Bit Rate (VBR) traffic. The effects of changing the distance between nodes, number of connections, and the peak rate of each connection on buffer requirements were analyzed. Analysis and simulation for the calculation of the maximum access time (Read or Write) in the buffer required for a certain Cell Transfer Delay time was also performed. In the previous study, a dedicated approach was utilized for buffer requirement analysis. In this paper, we have performed the analysis and simulation using a shared buffer approach. A comparison study was performed between the two approaches. We have found that saving in buffer size requirement for the shared approach is quite significant.
