HOW TEACHING MATHEMATICS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CAN SUPPORT FINANCIAL EDUCATION

摘要
This communication aims to explore the importance of Mathematics in Financial Education. The emergence of the Financial Education field is briefly presented before portraying its epistemological intersection with mathematics. This intersection is highlighted by the two different meanings of measurement: representational and pragmatic. These two meanings are present in different mathematical tasks. Three examples of tasks are given, in which cognitive and social aspects are described in order to study some financial practices in different contexts. For each example, the kind of citizenship will be exposed and discussed.
