摘要
The subject of this paper is evolutionary equations, such as the Hunter-Saxton equation or hyperbolic conservation laws, with the property that the initial value problem admits a multitude of solutions along which a certain "energy" functional decays at different rates. The aim is to examine whether solutions that dissipate the energy at maximal rate command special status. (C) 2011 Published by Elsevier Inc.
