This paper represents a newly introduced 5-level topology in the field of cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverter with the help of a single capacitor and a DC-source. The 5-level output voltage is generated by maintaining constant voltage across both DC-source and capacitor with the help of a suitable control technique based on capacitor voltage control. The purpose is to make the capacitor charge through a switch and discharge through the load, to make the switching technique simple. Using this switching technique, the capacitor voltage can be fixed to a desired level. The charging time, discharging time of the capacitor has been calculated. The simulation and real time implementation of the proposed topology has been performed and both are matching with each other. The results are shown in paper, given the better fundamental voltage as compare to other topologies.
