摘要
We present a theoretical analysis of dielectric loss of antiferroelectric liquid crystals by using a discrete phenomenological model which incorporates the effects such as steric, van der Waals, chirality, quadrupolar, nearest-neighbouring (NN) and next-nearest-neighbouring (NNN) layers interactions. The effect of chirality on dielectric loss of chiral smectic liquid crystal phases is significant; thus, analytical and numerical results on dielectric loss in terms of eigen frequencies of the phase and amplitude modes are presented.
