Investigation of the wettability and the interface feature of the melted Nd70Cu30 alloy on the surface of a sintered Nd Fe B magnet

摘要
We have studied the wettability and the interface feature of the melted Nd70Cu30 (at.%) alloy on the ab-plane (parallel to the c-axis) and the c-plane (perpendicular to the c-axis) of a sintered Nd Fe B magnet. The wettability of the melted Nd70Cu30 alloy on the ab-plane was much better than that on the c-plane. A zig-zag shaped interface was appeared on the ab-plane while a relatively smooth interface was observed on the c-plane. Shuttle shaped Fe rich phases were generated near the interfaces. The anisotropic distribution of the grain boundary phase in Nd Fe B magnets was discussed based on the experimental results. (C) 2018 Acta Materialia Inc Published by Elsevier Ltd.
