摘要
In the last decade methods for counting persons have been implemented for a growing number of situations like public transportation systems or important events with a large number of participants in which the knowledge of the number of individuals is helpful for controlling the situation under various aspects. In particular in public transportation systems like local or regional railway networks, technical systems have been developed and installed. Automatic passenger counting is usually either based on video or infrared sensor systems. The main challenge consists in the development of adequate counting algorithms using methods of image processing together with statistical approaches. In the present contribution we present an approach based on time-of-flight-based passenger tracking methods using infrared sensors.
