This article seeks to show which are the thematic and problematic emphases associated with the field of education and pedagogy, based on the review of texts published in Latin American journals that are situated in a critical, left-wing position and in some cases directly from the Marxism. At the same time, it seeks to account for the degrees of use of the analytical perspectives outlined by Karl Marx and Marxism in the mentioned works referring to education. We have been able to verify that the selected publications make little reference to contributions of Marx's work and Marxism, addressing issues of the history of education, educational policies, student and teacher movements, but without developing or use the pedagogical dimension of Marxism and even, some of them, reproducing in an uncritical way the hegemonic conceptions in education. To carry out this bibliographic balance, were reviewed recent editions of the journals Actuel Marx/ Interventions, Izquierdas, La Migrana. Revista de analisis politico, Herramienta. Revista de debate y critica marxista, y Memoria. Revista de critica militante. In methodological terms, was chosen a qualitative work based on the bibliographic analysis of academic journals and particularly an analysis of thematic content of the selected articles.
