Studies devoted to the development of liquid organic scintillators (LOSs) on the basis of raw materials produced in Russia are discussed. Multicomponent solutions consisting of a solvent and scintillation admixtures, which exhibit fluorescence properties under the action of ionizing radiation, is used for the study. This process is accompanied by emission of photons in the visible or ultraviolet spectral ranges. In order to determine the optical characteristics of LOS, a Specord M40 spectrophotometer is applied. The light yield was measured by the comparative method. The reference scintillation solution was used in the form of a LOS based on TMB, with the PPO concentration being 1.5 g. The samples exhibited a specific light yield compared to the best TMB based scintillators, as well as a high transparency.
