摘要
To cope with the increasing demand on the Internet and intranets, we need a new network architecture that enables high-speed and large-scale computer networking. The architecture should also provide new services such as guaranteed quality and multicast services. As a solution, we propose a backbone network architecture of the next-generation computer network, utilizing ATM bearer services on an ATM backbone network. The main technical aspects include separation of packet forwarding and routing control functions in "Core Network", a new "Core Protocol", and a new routing mechanism.
