摘要
This article considers the question of " masculinity" via the composite portrait of three men showing "feminine" features (anti-phallicism, the freedom to experience emotions, a developed capacity for expression and for being in step with the other). Their depiction illustrates the recent conception of a heterogenous and particular masculinity according to the different human groups. The analysis of these three cases shows that, just as these men are not "feminine" in the pejorative sense of the word, they are also not " masculine" in the conventional, defensive sense. We are speaking rather of a particular variety of "masculinity'. Masculinity is not a coherent reality that might possibly become the object of a generalizing science. It is perhaps preferable to envisage it via the illustration of its diverse forms. There is a conceptual tension between essentialist masculinity and variability in the construction of masculine sexual identity. Rather than attempting to define masculinity as an object, we must maintain this tension and succeed in working within established categories of sexual identity whilst also trying to transcend them.
