German version of the Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory for Children (SPAI-C-D): Its psychometric properties and norms

The Social Phobia and Anxiety Scale for Children (SPAI-C) was translated into German (SPAI-C-D). We presented the scale to two samples of 481 school-age children along with commonly used self-report measures of anxiety and also obtained reacher ratings. The combined sample was also used to provide some normative data. Socially anxious and normal groups indicated a significant difference in total score. Furthermore, we investigated retest reliability after two and four weeks. The SPAI-C-D appears to be a reliable and valid measure of childhood social anxiety. It successfully differentiates between socially phobic, socially anxious, and socially non-anxious children.
