摘要
Terpyridine derivative complexes of the type [M(thioterpy)(m)(X)(n)], where thioterpy = 4'-(2-thienyl)-2,2';6',2 ''-terpyridine, X = NO3-/OAc- and M = Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II), have been investigated. These compounds were characterized using IR spectroscopy, elemental analyses and electronic spectra (UV-Vis and fluorescence). Crystallographic studies were carried out on the Cr(III) nitrate and Cu(II) acetate complexes of the thioterpy ligand. Furthermore, we investigated the effect of metal ions on the biological activity concerning antimicrobial, antiproliferation and superoxide radical scavenging. The complexes show excellent antibacterial (MIC), good antineoplastic (IC50) and remarkable superoxide scavenging (IC50) properties. Finally, the catalase-like activity of the Mn species was monitored. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
