Dolichoderus Lund, 1831 is one of the large ant genera in the world and belongs to the subfamily Dolichoderinae. Currently, 130 species and 19 subspecies are known in this genus. A new species of the Dolichoderus thoracicus species group, Dolichoderus bakhtiari sp. nov. is here described based on the worker caste. The type series of the new species was collected from shrub trees in a primary upland evergreen forest (ca. 800 m a.s.l.). A key to the Thai D. thoracicus species group is provided.
