Experimental and theoretical study of magnetic field induced photoluminescence enhancement in Er3+:YVO4 crystals

Experimental and theoretical investigations of resonant absorption induced photoluminescence (PL) enhancement in Er3+:YVO4 crystals with different erbium contents are performed under pulsed high magnetic field. The effects of temperature, excitation power intensity and sample facet direction on the PL enhancement of Er3+:YVO4 crystals are examined. Crystal field theory is used to analyze the PL enhancement behavior, and the calculations agree well with the experimental results. This achievement is important for understanding the magnetic field induced PL enhancement of Er3+:YVO4 crystal, which has potential applications in magneto-optical bifunctional materials and devices.
