Effects of coral reefs on the nearshore coastal dynamics

摘要：
The paper discusses hydraulic performance of coral reefs in the context of wave transformation, wave energy dissipation and associated mean water surface fluctuations through a set of experimental investigations. It is concluded through this study that a large portion of incident wave energy dissipates on the reef and a small fraction of wave energy propagate towards the beach. Therefore, the reef acts as a natural means of coast protection.
