To understand the role of exercise in preventing weight gain and undesirable body composition changes, which often occur around the time of menopause. To understand energy balance and how it influences weight maintenance or weight gain/loss. To recognize obesity and physical inactivity as risk factors for heart disease and other chronic diseases.
