Structural and optical properties of BaSnO3 ceramics by solid state reaction method

摘要
Barium stannate ceramics with the general formula BaSnO3 was synthesized by the solid state reaction method. The crystal structure, morphology, elemental analysis and magnetic properties of the samples were systematically investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy, High Resolution Scanning Electron Microscopy (HRSEM), and Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The XRD results confirmed the single phase, crystalline and cubic perovskite structure of BaSnO3. The FTIR spectrum of the BaSnO3 ceramics displayed two main absorption bands located at 628 and 1483 cm(-1). HRSEM images clearly showed that BaSnO3 has a well-defined microstructure with small grain size having a broad grain size distribution. The elemental analysis (EDX) was performed for above sample and its spectrum which confirmed the presence of Ba, Sn and O elements in the prepared materials. The UV-Vis absorption spectral analysis showed an intense absorption at 330 nm, confirming the excellent optical behavior. Interestingly, Near-IR emission originated from the defective states were evident from Photoluminescence (PL) studies. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
