摘要
Alcohol ethoxylated surfactants polarity was studied by high-performance Liquid chromatography (HPLC)I Both the alkyl and ethylene oxide chain length have been changed. The first produces a linear variation of the retention time logarithm. The variation of ethylene oxide number produces a maximum in the retention time logarithm. These nonionic surfactants have been compared with hydrocarbons and alcohols. The results have been compared with surfactants cmc and hydrocarbon energy transfer obtained from the literature. The trends observed in the latter are analogous to the trends obtained by chromatographic measures. HPLC allows for a polarity measure of the nonionic surfactants independently of their solubility in water. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
