Selection of capillary columns for separation of N-nitrosamines in mixtures by gas chromatography

The following paper presents the results of the separation of N-nitrosamines on nonpolar, medium-polar and polar capillary columns. Thirteen columns of various lengths and internal diameters, containing immobilised phases of various thicknesses were examined. A standard mixture containing N-nitrosodibutylamine, N-nitrosodiethylamine, N-nitrosodimethylamine, N-nitrosodipropylamine, N-nitrosomethylethylamine, N-nitrosomorpholine, N-nitrosopiperidine and N-nitrosopyrrolidine was investigated. Polar columns provided the best separation of N-nitrosamines.
