Measurements of plasma parameters in the direct current discharge for isotope separation

摘要
The isotope separation phenomenon was observed in a DG discharge of rare gases through a thin capillary. We measured ion density and electron temperature in the positive column of neon and krypton plasmas to understand the mechanisms of isotope separation. We obtained isotope separation factors 1.25 for Ne-22/Ne-20 and 1.6 for Kr-86/Kr-80 for the current densities up to 300 A cm(-2). It is shown that one of the presented theories, 'ion wind', satisfactorily explains the experimental results.
