The American Orthopaedic Association-Japanese Orthopaedic Association (AOA-JOA) Traveling Fellowship, which began in 1992 as a collaborative effort between the 2 orthopaedic communities, is aimed at fostering leadership among early-career surgeons through clinical, academic, and cultural exchange. As part of a 3-week tour, fellows from the United States visit outstanding Japanese academic centers during even-numbered years, while fellows from Japan are hosted by leading academic institutions in the U.S. during odd-numbered years. © 2018 Lippincott Williams and Wilkins.
