摘要
The third-order nonlinear optical properties of Leishman dye in ethanol at different concentrations for two different incident laser intensities were investigated. The z-scan technique with continuous wave solid-state laser operating at 532 nm wavelength was employed to measure the sign and magnitude of the nonlinear refractive index (n(2)) and the nonlinear absorption coefficient (beta) of Leishman dye. The real and imaginary parts of the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility (chi((3))) were determined. The experimental results show that the investigated Leishman dye exhibits saturation absorption and negative nonlinear refraction (self-defocusing). The optical power limiting behavior was also investigated for the Leishman dye solution at different concentrations. The results show that the Leishman dye is a good nonlinear material with large nonlinear response could be used as a potential material for devices in optical applications.
