摘要
Recently, Taiwanese government has announced an ambitious energy policy: up to 20 percent of total power will be generated from renewable energy resources by 2025. However, under such high-level penetration level of renewable energy resources (RER), the typical net load curve will be definitely reshaped as the duck curve and increase more challenges in power system operations. Due to the fast response and the larger capacity installation, the pumped hydro storages (PHS), which have better flexibility to provide the effective frequency regulating reserve to fast and efficiently support any electricity gaps caused by the loss of generators, has demonstrated as an efficient solution to tackle out this challenging task. In this paper, the optimal scheduling of future Taiwan power system (TPS) with highly penetrated RER and two pumped hydro storage plants is simulated by using the MATPOWER optimal scheduling tool MOST. Scenario studies under various penetration level of RER and different load levels are conducted. These scenario studies indicate the existing PHS in TPS can contribute the generator scheduling of future TPS under highly penetrated RER even under the net load curve with the duck curve.
