Effect of Mg Dopant on the Electrochemical Performance of LiNi0.5Mn0.5O2 Cathode Materials for Lithium Rechargeable Batteries

摘要
Layered Mg doped LiNi0.5Mn0.5O2 materials have been synthesized by sol-gel method using succinic acid as a chelating agent. XRD patterns of the Mg doped LiNi0.5Mn0.5O2 confirm the layered structure (R3-m space group) and the surface morphology of the synthesized materials have been examined by SEM and TEM analysis in which the average particle size is similar to 100 nm. Galvanostatic charge/discharge studies authenticate that the material LiNi0.4Mg0.1Mn0.5O2, exhibits the highest initial discharge capacity of 188 mAhg(-1) at C/10 rate when cycled between 2.9 and 4.8V.
