摘要：
Since 1997, the scope of insulator research became broader eventually including material studies as well as the development of advanced measurement and diagnostic techniques when under polluted conditions. Research concentrated mainly on silicone rubbers but EPDM rubbers and semiconducting glazed porcelain have also been investigated. This paper discusses the advantages, general problems and challenges as well as some selected results from the Swedish research projects.
