Most of the existing work on adaptive resource allocation in multiuser OFDM systems have focused on homogeneous traffic only. In this paper the resource allocation problem in a heterogeneous multiuser OFDM system, where Delay constraint (DC) and No Delay Constraint (NDC) traffic are supported simultaneously. The main objective is to maximize the system capacity and maximize the sum-rate of all the NDC users while maintaining the basic transmission rates of all the DC users. An efficient low complexity suboptimal allocation algorithm and an iterative algorithm are used to compute the optimal solution. It is observed that, the proposed algorithms could maximize the system capacity and maximize the sum-rate of all users with NDC traffic while maintaining guaranteed rates for the DC traffic under total transmission power constraints.
