High performance wavelet-based stereo image coding

摘要
We present a high performance stereo image coding scheme using wavelet transform. As most stereo image coding techniques, we use block-based disparity estimation and compensation to decorrelate the dependence between the left and the right images. The wavelet transform and corresponding coding scheme are then applied to the stereo images. By using context-based arithmetic coding and rate-distortion optimization techniques, our coder outperforms others published in the literature by more than 3 dB.
