Asian and oriental Torrenticolidae Piersig, 1902 (Acari: Hydrachnidia: Lebertioidea): A revision of the family and descriptions of new species of Torrenticola Piersig and Pseudotorrenticola Walter, from Southeast Asia

A revised classification of the family Torrenticolidae (Acari, Hydrachnidia) is presented. Two subfamilies, Testudacarinae Cook, 1974 and Torrenticolinae Piersig, 1902 are retained, and Neoatractidinae is synonymised with Torrenticolinae. Four genera are included in the Torrenticolinae: Monatractides Viets, 1926 (restored to generic rank), Torrenticola Piersig, 1896, Neoatractides Lundblad, 1941 (expanded to include the subgenera Allotorrenticola Cook, 1967 and Heteratractides Cook, 1974, previously subgenera of Torrenticola Cook 1974) and Pseudotorrenticola Waiter, 1906. New species of Torrenticola; T. flangia, T. longipalpis, T. rhamphopsis, T. roxanneae and Pseudotorrenticola, P. sharpae, from Asia are described and the Asian species reviewed. A key is provided to Asian species of Torrenticola, Pseudotorrenticola and Neoatractides.
