Magnetic properties of Fe/Tb multilayers: a Monte Carlo investigation

We have performed Monte Carlo simulations to investigate some magnetic properties of a Heisenberg bilayer system (A/B) with disordered interfaces. Our numerical data are compared to experimental results for amorphous Fe/Tb multilayers. In particular, we confirm the decrease of the transition temperature (T-c) when the number of planes (n) in the Fe layer increases. Moreover, a limit value for T-c is achieved as n approximate to 7. This thickness dependence of T-c is explained by a reduction of the magnetic correlations between two compositionally modulated interfaces. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
