Based on the materials of the State Archives in Tobolsk, the author identified the reasons for the submission of petitions by the male part of the peasants to the Tobolsk spiritual consistory in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries, highlighted the specifics of cases and provided the legislative framework for each mason, determined the main stages of the divorce process. Most often, the long-term betrayal of their wives became the motive for the filing of petitions by men, and before that they tried to reason with their spouse for several years, such cases were resolved hard and for a long time, up to two years. The wife's link to hard labor became the second most common mason for divorce, such cases were almost always completed in favor of the plaintiff and in a relatively very short period of 2-2.5 months, after the verdict, the husbands filed for divorce most quickly. In the affairs of the consistory, begun due to the unknown absence of his wife, other problems usually lurked.
