A research on determining professional priorities related to teaching profession of the physical education teacher

摘要
Teachership profession has been one of the oldest and maybe the most important one throughout history of humanity. There are many features that people from this profession who nowadays, too, still make huge contributions to the development of people must posses in order to give education of higher quality and protect their professional prestige. These features can be generally collected under three titles. These are General Knowledge Information, teachership profession information and specific field knowledge. Educating teacher program include the lessons oriented at each three field. The teachers that are raised by abiding by these program are expected to have been expert in his-her field and to have the skill in exhibiting intended. The aim of this study to determine the points of view of the physical education teachers, who still work, about what kind of features an ideal physical education teacher might have and to specify which features become prominent when ordering the priorities in every three sub-dimensions. It is aimed at contributing to the curriculum planning for teacher training with the findings obtained in this study. In this study, 5 likert type survey methods that compose of three chapters and total 53 questions was applied. Pretesting and last testing application done for the validity and credibility of the survey were carried out over 30 teachers and it was determined as a=0.81. Total 174 volunteer physical education teachers constituted the paradigm group of this study. In the study, also, whether there is a difference among the groups in terms of Professional experience and working hours or not is searched by using one-way anova and tukey test methods. As a result of this study, in the field of Professional General Information, the acceptance, protection and development of the National, Moral, Humanitarian and Cultural values of the Turkish Nation (98.8%) and familiarity and clear or comprehensible use of Turkish language (97.7%) take place on the top among the priorities. It is seen that, in Professional Knowledge, taking pleasure in teaching and adopting this profession (83.9%), and in the Field Knowledge, organizing the activities and groups and acquiring management knowledge and skill (93.7%) come to the front.
