摘要
(Figure Presented) How to spot a lesion. A recent report from Min and Pavletich provides a molecular basis for how a variety of structurally diverse lesions are recognized in eukaryotic nucleotide excision repair. The initial damage sensor XPC/HR23B probes the DNA helix for thermodynamically destabilized sites and interacts with undamaged nucleotides opposite a DNA lesion. © 2008 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
